Furlough Friday, Hawaii Education Matters rally

Hawaii Education Matters, a group organized by parents of public school students is worried about how the loss of 17 school days will affect their children's learning. The rally at the Hawaii State Capitol on Oct. 23, 2009 was organized to urge lawmakers to find a different solution, and to prioritize keiki (Hawaiian for children) now and in the future. The protesters waved colorful homemade and printed signs, marched, & chanted. Special guests included Jack Johnson and Ben Vereen.
