Reptiles-Fighting Lizards

Stock Photography By Paul Ross

Diporiphora australis - View images of two of this species during a territorial conflict. The fighting was quite ruthless with the winner (the lighter colored lizard), holding and biting the darker colored lizard by the upper jaw while they both moved around each other. At one stage they stood side by side, with backs arched and each with an upright and distinct ridge from the head, down along the back. They were miniatures from the prehistoric era.
