Macquarie Island Wildlife

Stock Photography By Matt Brading

Macquarie Island is just a speck in the vast southern ocean but it is home for an incredible number of birds and animals. There are four species of albatross that breed on the island; Wandering, Grey Headed, Black Browed and Light-Mantled Sooty Albatross. There are four penguin species; Gentoo, King, Rockhopper and Royal. Plus there's the Elephant Seals and Antarctic Fur Seals and numerous itinerant visitors who come and go throughout the year.
