Lake Burley Griffen in Canberra

Lake Burley Griffin in the centre of Canberra, Australia's National Capital, is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It is surrounded by many of Australia's national institutions such as the National Library, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, National Museum, High Court and the Australian National University. The lake was part of the design for the new national capital by American architect, Walter Burley Griffin, who won an international competition in 1920.
