Bundanon Trust Properties

The Bundanon Trust's properties on the Shoalhaven River near Nowra NSW provide a museum experience and education opportunities in memory of the Australian painter Arthur Boyd. The sites were a gift to the Nation from the artist and his wife Yvonne.

Camel Rock

Clarendon House, Tasmania

Clarendon House, near Evandale is set in 7 acres of estate on the South Esk River and is arguably the grandest Old Colonial Georgian house in Tasmania. The Grecian Ionic columns rising through two floors add grandeur and a link to classical architecture. Clarendon built in 1838 was the centre of a large pastoral enterprise developed by James Cox.

Entally House, Tasmania

Entally house and garden at Hadspen in northern Tasmania were developed from 1817 by Thomas Reibey on land grants given to his mother. The single storey Georgian homestead built in 1819 was extended in the 1850s with a two storey wing maintaining the Georgian style. The site is managed today by Gunns Limited with a commercial vineyard and the house and garden are open to the public.

Fitzroy Falls

Waterfalls have cut deeply into the escarpment on the eastern fringe of the Southern Highlands. Fitzroy Falls in Morton National Park has been visited for over 150 years since discovery by Charles Throsby and is quite accessible from the Visitor Centre. Yarrunga Creek plunges 82m into the valley after cascading through temperate rainforest.

Highfield Historic Site, Tasmania

The Van Diemen's Land Company was granted large holdings in Tasmania in 1825 and chose Stanley as their centre of operations. Highfield house was constructed in 1832 with extensions by architect John Lee Archer in the 1840s. The historic site is managed today by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the house and outbuildings including the chapel, stables and the convict barracks, now ruins, are open for visitors.

HMAS Sydney Memorial Geraldton Western Australia

A memorial to HMAS Sydney II sunk off the Western Australian coast in November 1941 by the German HSK Kormoran sits on the top of Mount Scott within the city of Geraldton. The Memorial is the work of world-renowned sculptors Joan Walsh Smith and Charles Smith. Central to the memorial is a dome of 645 seagulls each representing a life lost. The dome is complemented by a memorial wall, pool and sculptures of the ship bow and a grieving woman,

Kosciuszko Main Range and Lakes

The main range walk in Kosciuszko National Park follows the Snowy River valley from Charlotte's Pass to the base of Mt Kosciusko. A short detour takes you to the summit of Kosciuszko before the spectacular walk into Lake Albina and along the main range. A second detour into the Blue Lake is worth it before descending to the Snowy River and back up to the tree line at Charlotte's Pass.

Port Arthur

Established in 1830 the Port Arthur penal station developed to house over 2000 convicts, soldiers and civil staff a decade later. It was closed in 1877, lots were sold off, building demolished for their materials and the site was ravished by major bushfires in the 1890s. The fascination of the convict past remained and establishment as a tourist destination started the day the site closed.

Stanley, Tasmania Panoramas

Stanley is the major fishing port on the north west coast of Tasmania but more commonly known for the Nut a volcanic core rising steeply to 143m behind the historic town. The site was first settled in 1826 by the Van Diemen's Land Company and Highfield historic site displays its pastoral beginnings. Today Stanley is a prime destination for tourists with cafes, craft shops and B&B accommodation in the historic shops and houses.

Stockton, Newcastle

Stockton is the only suburb of Newcastle north of the Hunter River. The area is only 5 minutes by ferry from the city but otherwise quite isolated and compact which has allowed it to keep its heritage and character.

Tilba Valley

The beautiful Tilba valley on the south coast of NSW hides the National Trust classified village of Central Tilba. The village was established on the slopes of Mt Dromedary to serve gold mining boom in the 19th century and then relaxed as a centre for the local dairying industry. Today the picturesque town caters for a tourists.
