I will be visiting geologically the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands, the island of Kauai between October 11th and 14th, 2013.

Rich palette of pristine nature and variations of micro-climate on this approximately six million years old volcanic island are major sculptors of the unique environment on this small piece of land located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Some of the unique areas include Mount Wai'ale'ale, one of the wettest spots on Earth; carved out Waimea canyon; numerous scenic waterfalls and beaches; an abundance of rainforest flora; and nene or Hawaiian goose, the rarest goose in world. Taro, staple starch of Polynesian cuisine and a root crop growing in paddy conditions is cultivated in fields of Hanalei Bay. Kauai is also home to numerous Hawaiian ancient and sacred sites, and continues to be well preserved tourist destination and residential location.

I am available for assignments during my stay and will photograph any area of interest.
